Requirements- 

  • CDA or  some college and a  minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working directly with infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers in a child care setting. (Retired teachers are welcome)
  • Proven experience in stimulating growth and development in young children by actively supporting their learning and emotional needs.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check prior to employment.
  • Must be successfully cleared by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and the Department of Health to work in a child care setting.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young children, including those with diverse learning needs.
  • Physical stamina to meet the demands of the job, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and participate in rigorous outdoor activities.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and safety standards.

 

Instruction and Curriculum:

Execute pre-arranged lesson plans and developmentally appropriate activities that cater to the diverse needs and age range of the students.

Actively stimulate and support the growth and development of every child (cognitive, emotional, social, and physical) through supportive interactions and curriculum implementation.

Lead engaging activities, including nature walks and outdoor play, promoting curiosity and physical development.

Integrate strategies for students with special needs to ensure full inclusion and participation in all classroom activities.

Student Care and Health:

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy classroom environment.
  • Perform routine care tasks, including changing diapers and assisting with personal hygiene.
  • Actively aid children in the process of potty training, providing positive reinforcement and consistent support.
  • Supervise and monitor children at all times, ensuring their safety indoors and outdoors.
  • Professional and Operational Requirements:
  • Be reliable, professional, and dependable. Must adhere strictly to the schedule by arriving on time and being ready to begin the shift exactly at the start time.
  • Remain highly organized and able to multi-task effectively while simultaneously planning classroom activities ahead of time.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs (e.g., children, supplies, equipment).
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and sit on the floor for extended periods to interact with children at their level.
  • Must be physically able to quickly respond to emergencies.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Maintain professional and positive communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and daily activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with co-teachers, specialists, and administration.
